It sits below the Nexon in the micro SUV segment. Its modern tech features and a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP makes it an attractive proposition for a whole bunch of people. The SUV trend is growing at a rapid pace and the Punch provides a great option to own an SUV at an affordable price point. But what happens when someone decides to install an aftermarket CNG kit on the Punch? Well, let us find out!

As seen in the images, the aftermarket CNG cylinder has been fitted in the boot of the Punch. The spare tyre has been put in the space behind the cylinder. Admittedly, the space in the trunk has reduced drastically. This is one of the major disadvantages of installing a CNG kit in a car. However, the positive of mileage outweighs this negative by a huge margin. The cost of running a car goes down considerably if you use CNG. The button has been installed near the steering wheel that indicates the status of CNG fuel. There is always the option of switching back and forth between CNG and petrol. There are not too many complicated alterations required in the engine either.

In the IC engine format, the Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspired petrol engine that makes 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The CNG powered Punch will likely make a bit less power which is natural to all CNG cars.

The prices of the Punch range between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 9.39 lakh, ex-showroom. The direct rivals include the likes of Maruti Ignis, S-Presso and Renault Kwid. However, the price overall with the Hyundai Santro and other Maruti products could also attract potential customers from the adjacent segments.
